From homeless to film star, snowboarder tackles Alaska - Ryan Hudson wants to be known as a snowboarder, not a Black snowboarder
“San Diego native Ryan Hudson was one of three freeride professional snowboarders who set out to find winter in June. That mission led them to a remote corner of Alaska’s 13,000-foot-high Chugach Mountain range.
But there they encountered much more. As video cameras rolled for 10 days, they discovered inner strengths and weaknesses. They failed, and they succeeded. They bared their souls, tested their wills.”
“Their inner and outer journey was captured on documentary footage, “Mountain Revelations,” a title with multi-faceted meaning.
“People will always remind me of the color of my skin,” said Hudson, 33. “To everyone, I’m a Black snowboarder; I’m not just a snowboarder.””
